Amy Lee's vocals take on a different dimension when she plays only piano (My Immortal). The songs are either dark and very atmospheric, beautifully textured with keyboards, strings and layered back-up vocals, or on the other hand very edgy and crunchy, but both push the music to new levels. The sound of the record as a whole is definitely haunting and ethereal and gets better with each listen, it's an album with a consistent quality that is incredibly captivating. The production is thicker, warmer and fuller than almost anything I've heard before. This is definitely more than just a solid start for a newcomer.
